Ember: It’s official. I’m a freak. There is nothing normal about me. Normal medicines don’t cure my headaches, normal people barely notice I exist, and normal men don’t turn me on.

After another bad breakup I find myself spiraling into depression. It’s not that the guy was all that great. It’s that he was right—there’s something wrong with me.

So maybe I won’t take her to her people right away. It’s not like responsibility is high on the list of faery character traits.

My only concerns are how my father and my king might react if I form a lasting bond with her and what the Pixie Queen might do to keep us apart.
