Two friends bonded by Amateur Radio. Murder over the airwaves.

It's August 2021. The last two years haven't gone well for Doug Anders. He lost his job, his girlfriend, and his apartment. Doug has only two good things in his life: Amateur Radio aka Ham Radio and his friend, Carl from Florida whom he talks to or ragchews with weekly over the radio waves.

When Carl was murdered live on the air during one of their ragchews, Doug makes it his mission to find Carl's killer. After flying from Massachusetts to Miami, Doug meets Detective A-Rod. While using his radio at the park where Carl died, Doug finds a key piece of evidence. This discovery leads to a life-or-death struggle, secrets from the past are revealed, and a new path forward for Doug.

Silenced Key is a debut novel which mixes familiar genres, such as murder mystery, historical fiction, action-adventure, and the spy thriller with a new twist. Sound effects obtained from Zapsplat; Morse code sounds obtained from Freesounds.

What a thrill! I enjoyed the book, beginning to end.The HAM radio jargon was clearly presented, characters were introduced at a smooth pace(just jammed in during a single chapter), and the action was FANTASTIC. I'm now an immediate fan of this author and can't wait to finish the rest of series. However - the narration needs some fine tuning, including the unedited sound effects! I discovered the story was intact even without the sound effects,but was glad to be entertained by the audio setting. I admit that I have had an interest with HAM radios,and because of this story Im going to look into it again. I will be glad to spread the word about this book series and it's author,GREAT JOB.

I saw this advertised in one of KM4ACK’s emails and gave it a try. It’s always fun to listen to stories and have parts of a hobby you are interested in. I am pretty sure it is the author narrating and thought he did a great job. I enjoyed the story and mystery. If you are interested in Ham Radio, this gives you a good glimpse of what the hobby is about. 73 - KD9PJN
