Skylar goes undercover as a fake date for a tech billionaire. But he can’t keep his hands off this curvy cop.

Skylar
When I’m assigned the undercover job of playing girlfriend to a visiting tech billionaire, I’m furious. I’m a cop, not some piece of eye candy.
But the more time I spend the with the ruggedly handsome Jaime Baker, the more I like playing the role of his girlfriend.

Jamie
I don’t need a babysitter, and I don’t need some Charlie’s Angels wannabe pretending to be my girlfriend.
Then I meet the curvy Skylar. She’s fierce and beautiful, and it’s hard to keep my hands off her.
But does she feel the same, or is she just doing her job?

listened to book 3 with Skylar and Jamie. She has to go undercover as a date for the tech guy. Jamie has been threatened so Sklyar has to help guard him. The relationship between Skylar and Jamie is good, sweet and so awesome that she is finding love. Love the ending that they find that they are made for each other, and Jamie has learned that she is the one that makes him whole. Such a HEA.

This story has a little bit of everything; suspense, drama, action and of course a sinfully delicious romance. Skylar and Jaime have an instant attraction that soon develops into a deep connection. I enjoyed every moment of this fast paced and adorable story.

Here is your dramatically grossed-out review:

I picked up Skylar King’s Cops by Sadie King thinking I was getting a spicy romance. What I actually got felt more like being trapped inside a fever dream that someone scribbled down at 3 a.m. after binge-watching bad reality TV.

From the very beginning, the vibe is… sticky. And not in a fun way. The characters don’t build chemistry so much as they collide like two overcaffeinated raccoons fighting over a protein bar. Every interaction feels exaggerated, sweaty, and painfully over-the-top. Instead of tension, it’s just chaos. Instead of romance, it’s secondhand embarrassment.

Skylar herself could have been interesting, but she’s written in a way that made me cringe every other page. The dialogue? I had to physically pause multiple times because no real human being talks like that. It’s like everyone swallowed a romance cliché generator and just started blurting things out.

And the “spice”? Listen. I’m not a prude. But there’s a difference between steamy and “please close the blinds and disinfect the room.” Scenes escalate so fast and so intensely that it stops being compelling and just becomes uncomfortable. There’s no emotional grounding—just whiplash. I didn’t feel butterflies; I felt like I needed a shower.

By the end, I wasn’t swooning. I was blinking at the wall, wondering what I had just subjected my eyeballs to.

If you love outrageous, dramatic, ultra-overheated romance with zero chill, maybe this is your thing. But for me? It felt like walking into a room full of Axe body spray and bad decisions.

⭐ 1.5/5 — points only because I survived it.
