Missing bearer bonds, a family tragedy, arson, and murder - it's all in a day's work for Sharon McCone in the new series installment from best-selling author Marcia Muller.

Settled in to their new home after they lost their house in a fire, and fully established in their new shared offices, private investigator Sharon McCone and her business partner husband, Hy, are finally starting to feel comfortable. That calm is shattered when Hy's former colleague, Gage Renshaw - a shady troublemaker whom they presumed dead - reappears, and it's unclear what he wants from his prosperous former associate.

Meanwhile Sharon has a new client with a desire to get rid of the derelict house that's disturbing the local homeowners' association. However, the abandoned house holds its share of secrets, and soon Sharon is contending with more than a simple eyesore as she searches for the individual who is obsessed with destroying her life.

A good story, though some of the other plot was predictable. Narrator was good. Overall, I enjoyed the book.

Well, the story was okay but kind of all over the place. Not like the early novels, which stuck with the plot of the mystery.
The narration had a section where there was a Spanish-speaking character, and the narrator had the WORST Spanish I've ever heard on an Audible book. Does no one edit?

Not the best McCone

Would you consider the audio edition of Someone Always Knows to be better than the print version?

. This narrator made the book extremely difficult to listen.

What didn’t you like about Laura Hicks’s performance?

She sounds like she is just learning to read.

Great story terrible narration

The narrator has obviously never read one of the Sharon McCone mysteries. She presents this favorite character as a whiny, WHINY middle-aged do-nothing. This is a sharp contrast to the character series readers have come to know. Someone listening to this book wouldn't be likely to seek out other, earlier books. Granted, Ms. Muller is to blame for a lazier plot than some others, but the narration really kills it!

Narration ruins Sharon McCone

I've read all of Marcia Muller's books over the years. I had no problem with the narrator as other reviewers seemed to have. She spoke clearly, narrated the men's voice mostly well (as well as any woman could). I liked the story. The only problem I had is that she brought her political views into the book. I don't think authors should do that. Sure, it's their book, their story. But to keep all the readers, the story should be apolitical, unless that's what the book's about. That's not what this book is about.

Good book, good narrator
