Nationally renowned inspirational author Lisa Samson writes deeply moving novels of the heart. Songbird is the beautiful tale of a young woman's journey toward healing and fulfillment.

When her mother abandons her, 11-year-old Charmaine feels like she's not even a real person anymore. But she has two things that no one can ever take away from her, faith and a true God-given talent for singing. Her situation improves when a loving Sunday school teacher welcomes Charmaine into her family and shows her what it means to be loved. But, as Charmaine knows all too well, things inevitably change, and again the scars hidden deep within her cry out to be healed. When she falls in love with a devout traveling preacher, Charmaine finally knows that God is smiling at her.

Songbird is a quirky, vibrant work that will move listeners from all walks of life. This emotionally touching story features a warm narration from Cynthia Darlow.

The story was "ok" but certainly not the best Lisa Samson novel. However, the worse part was either the recording or the narrator. Her accent was great but it sounded like she had lots of saliva in her mouth for the entire recording. She was either smacking her lips/tongue or something else weird. It was very difficult to listen to. Perhaps it could just be the quality of the recording.

Bad Recording or Narrator, not sure which.

It was a good novel. What you would expect from a Christian novel. I wish it was a little more fast paced. It seemed that the plot dragged in places. Overall, I really enjoyed it.
