Soulmate Dog tells the brave, moving story of Michelle Slater’s extraordinary relationship with her German Shepherd, Brady. Narrated by Alison Larkin in an easy-to-listen-to, conversational style, it “charts the nature of love and the inevitability of loss that accompanies it,” while showcasing the telepathic language that can exist between dogs and humans.

In this brave, beautiful book, the author also sheds light on the important field of integrative veterinary medicine.

Exclusively for Audible, this edition is followed by a fascinating interview with Michelle Slater, author of Soulmate Dog, and producer/narrator Alison Larkin.

A classic coming of age story full of tragedy, challenge, non-human telepathy, growth and unbridled love. Michelle wistfully crafted a love story from burgeoning youth into a determined, strong-willed adult woman while exposing a deeper side of pet ownership that rarely is expressed. Full of science, healing facts and new age optimism, Soul Mate Dog is a story all pet owners should listen. The opportunity to expand the understanding and possibilities of their own relationship with their beloved pets is profound.

I download everything Alison Larkin narrates and was intrigued by this one as it's so different from the books she usually narrates. The closest I have heard of Alison's narrations was was the Secret Life of Fungi and the Sunday Times columnist Bee Wilson's Consider the Fork, which was a big bestseller, so I thought let's try this. I found the story really moving and as a dog lover myself who has lost two dogs to old age and illness, I not only enjoyed this audiobook I also found the author's journey inspiring. I do believe in interspecies love and I was really interested in the language of dog and in the author's depiction of alternative medicine for animals. The author was clearly in a position financially to afford all this which at first made me feel left out as I do not have the funds needed to treat my dogs in this way, but then when I found out that a portion of the sales is going to set up a scholarship fund I was completely won over. Recommended and ground breaking.

Beautifully narrated audiobook about true love
