Five strangers. One impossible abduction. A choice that could unmake the universe.

Aiden, a corporate titan with everything to lose.

Dr. Lena Petrova, a scientist who believes in logic over miracles.

Elias Vance, a cynical engineer haunted by ghosts in the machine.

Ben Carter, a soldier who trusts only his fists.

Maya Singh, an artist who feels what others cannot.

Each lives an ordinary life—until reality fractures. A flash of light, a scream hidden in paint, a silence that devours sound. In an instant, they are torn from Earth and awakened aboard an alien vessel orbiting far beyond the reach of home.

Their captor is Kaelen, a being of pure energy who claims they were not taken at random, but chosen. The reason? Only their chaotic humanity can survive the dimension where his people cannot tread. Their mission: rescue Lyra, an elder imprisoned in a pocket reality on a violent, storm-wracked world.

Failure means extinction. Success means betrayal.

And the greatest danger isn’t the alien world that awaits them—
it’s the secret bond between predator and prey, captor and captive, human and alien soul.

For in the shadows of the cosmos, survival comes at a cost. And some bargains steal more than your life… they steal your very soul.

Soulsucker is one of those audiobooks that grabs you in the first few minutes and refuses to let go. Jeffrey Simmons has created a story that blends classic sci-fi suspense with modern, psychological tension, alien abduction, survival stakes, and layers of betrayal that keep you second-guessing everyone.

The characters are strong and believable, especially the protagonist, whose fear, resilience and desperate determination make the story feel grounded despite the high-concept sci-fi premise. And the twists—there are several—are genuinely satisfying. I thought I had figured out the direction more than once, only to be proven wrong in the best possible way.

I was hooked from the start

I picked this up thinking it would just be another sci-fi thriller, but it grabbed me fast. The tension hits early, the twists are sharp, and I was constantly trying to figure out who to trust. The pacing kept me turning pages way later than I planned. It has that mix of danger, mystery, and “oh no, what now?” that makes you fully invested. If you like high-stakes survival stories with a dark edge, this one delivers big time.

I usually don’t listen to sci-fi at all, but this one turned out to be the best surprise. I picked it just because of the title ‘The Soul Sucker’, and I’m so glad I did. The writer took such a unique and creative concept and turned it into an amazing story. It honestly made my winters feel even better and more exciting. The narrator also done ana amazing job.

Highly recommended!

You may expect a fast sci-fi thriller, but this story doesn’t rely on flashy tech or endless action. Instead, it leans into tension, moral pressure, and the slow realization that survival itself can be a trap.
There’s a creeping sense of dread throughout the book, not because of constant danger, but because you’re never sure who’s being honest or what “winning” would even look like. It will make you question loyalty, power, and the cost of staying alive.
