Yes. I'm the daughter of the infamous couple, June Heal and Oscar Park.

One teeny weeny problem, I'm a mortal. Yep. I guess I got my granny Darla's DNA.

Good news! I might not have spiritual powers but I have a mean set of baking skills. I'm delighted to be moving out of Whispering Falls, where y'all know I can't live since I'm mortal, and to Celestial Falls, another small Southern town where I'm opening Heavenly Desserts. Of course, The Marys wouldn't let me leave unless I took my new kitten with me.

I'm beyond excited, but fluff left my dough when Orin Reguila showed up. But that's not all that put too much flour in my cookies, there just so happened to be a murder . . . when someone ate my cookie.

I've got no one to turn to! It looks like I'm going to have to enlist Orin's help with his wizard skills.

I just hope I can clear my name and save my business before The Marys make me pack up and go back to Whispering Falls.

I definitely think the narrator didn’t help. She uses a very childish and exaggerated southern accent. The kind people use to make southern people sound unintelligent. The FMC sounds like a young teenager and not like a 25 year old woman. However, the writer needs to rethink her character development a bit too. It’s not really believable that the mortal world is really that foreign. Like them not understanding the appeal of music. Seriously? She also seems extremely immature and naive for her age. As does the MMC. I really wanted to love this and was hoping to find my next favorite series. For reference, I absolutely love Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi and was thinking this would be in the same vein. It’s still a sweet story with really great potential. I think I might like it better in print instead of audio.

So many clues! So many suspects! Who did it? Would Lo's newly discovered power help her figure out who the murderer was in time?

exciting to the end

A small town, a touch of magic, baked goods, and a dash of murder—what’s not to love? This had all the ingredients for a really charming story. I’m not sure if it was the narration or the writing style were just a mismatch with my personal taste, but something didn’t quite click for me. That said, I think I might have enjoyed it more if I’d read the book instead of listening to the audiobook. The narration just didn’t work for me.

So much potential!

Solutions were too easy to figure out the problems as they came up. Although the story was enjoyable..

The easiness of the characters
