Island Chaptal - nerdy IT engineer by day, romance novel junkie by night - just walked into her messy New York apartment to find Mr. Right waiting for her. No, wait...Mr. Clean.

A gentleman professional killer with a bad case of OCD and zero tolerance for unsorted laundry, March isn't there to kill her...yet. He wants the diamond her late mother stole for a sinister criminal organization. Island agrees to help him find it, facing the kind of adversaries who dismember first and ask questions later. Good thing she's got March to show her the ropes. And the guns. And the knives.

The buttoned-up Island is soon having a blast racing from Paris to Tokyo following the clues in her mother's will, and for the first time, she's ready to get close to someone. But falling for a hit man may be the very definition of loving dangerously.

I loved this book. Its our of my normal genre but something caught my eye and I am glad it did. Spotless is a fun read with everything you need; laughs, tears, adventure and a small amount of romance.. I think the author and the narrator both did an amazing job with the multiple languages and made the translations clear for the readers.

It is defiantly worth a credit and your time. Now off to read the next one.

A tonne of fun, never ending action and a surprising amount of heart. I am not usually a fan of cliffhangers. Fortunately I knew that goin in and the series is now complete and available for bingeing.

Enjoyable for a cliffhanger

You have to go into this book with the attitude that it’s pretend and would not happen in RL. I mean who would think being kidnapped is funny. C. Monk managed to make it funny. An assassin kidnapper with O.C.D. that cleans the victims apartment is absurd. Throw in the victim is a 26yr old virgin with a penchant for quoting plots from romance novels. Definitely a strange duo. Absolutely loved the entire series. Each book seems to get better imo. If you enjoy silly enjoyment reads without sex scenes give Camilla Monk’s series a try. I LOVE the Audible version the narrator is obviously fluent in multiple languages. #funny #roflmbo #comedicmystery #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Truly enjoyed this book. Great fast paced story made even better by the narrator. What an amazing talent. Not just her story telling but her range of voices and languages helped to make the story so much more enjoyable.

Updated review: Books 1-4.5 now available in the omnibus for 1 credit- Get that instead. Worth it,, even if each book gives diminishing returns.

Original review:
What a fun, killer tease of an action romance! Island is a sweet, adorably naive gal who finds herself plunged into a world of danger upon discovering March, an assassin with OCD, a gentleman’s wardrobe, and a sexy British accent, tidying up her apartment.

As fresh as the story was, however, I was left disappointed. I felt a bit like watching Remington Steele or Moonlighting... great chemistry and banter, mystery and danger... but the will they or won’t they, if it ever gets resolved, will only happen off screen with the viewer left to imagine rather than experience the climax. That sufficed for TV in the 80’s. But here, the author’s refusal to actually write the good parts made the listen less fulfilling.

I enjoyed being teased with their story so much that I hung around for book two. Listener be warned though: the naughtiness never goes past kisses and suggestion. For me, that meant I was left with a feeling more of frustration than fun. I didn’t move past book two, because I didn’t feel the rest of the series was credit worthy.

Clean romance, spaced out over the series. Not cozy, however; there’s F-bombs, some torture scenes, and quite a few comedic scenes based on violence and killing.

Romancing the Stone but with assassins and OCD
