A violent storm sweeps through California, taking on a life of her own. Making her way from the Pacific Coast, she gains momentum as she approaches the Sierra and transforms into a blizzard of great strength, covering mountain ranges and roads with twenty feet of snow. Originally published in 1941, Storm is a rare combination of fiction and science by a master storyteller, drawing upon a deep knowledge of geography, meteorology, and human nature.

"In Storm we are far from freeways, from megapopulation, from sprawl, from beach TV, from stress, from road rage. And we are in touch with a much deeper reality. Of land and water and weather, of humans huddled together on the planet in a dark universe."—Ernest Callenbach, in the foreword

I really liked but kept getting side tracked with old tec. Good story and presentation and concept. Once I took as slightly historical it was fine.

Good but more like history.

My first George R Stewart book was "Earth Abides". I was officially a fan after 5 minutes of listening. "Storm" is an incredible story, similarly engaging with characters that are interesting, relatable and relevantly involved with the greatest character of all, the storm itself. The story is engaging enough to make it through the narration, but the performance was so dry and devoid of inflection and interest that it was almost physically difficult to listen to. If only this book and his other "Fire" were available with Jonathon Davis (Earth Abides narrator) as the narrator... Story is worth the listen - but the monotone drone of the narrator will be something to overcome.

Stewart Engages but the narrator does not...
