I thought my first year would be all studying, but there's a lot more practical activity in this academy. For me, anyway.

Hunting ghosts in a noble's palace, flying across castle walls under the tutelage of a half-mermaid. There's never a quiet day, or night. When's a student supposed to sleep?

And will I get any closer to discovering the source of my new powers? How about that forbidden name I keep coming across? That dreadful name. Xuthul.

The only way to find out is to fight head-on.

I'll have to miss a few more classes.

I paid for the first book to get to this one and I am glad I did. It's a fast paced with fun characters that I enjoy listening to them interact. Not to give away spoilers but one of the side characters gets a 180 change in personality and boy is it hilarious.
Something about Kirks dialogue writing just hits different and draws me in. Over and over I come back to his books and look forward to new releases.

Book two pick up right where book one stop . The main character back story is interesting. Gives you enough to make a guess at his past without giving it all away. Great book over all.
