As a mother of five grown children, a Nana to a growing gaggle of grands, and a lover of all things Christmas, I’ve built quite the holiday storybook collection over the years. I was excited to preview Sydney and Cody’s Christmas Adventure a little pre-season to see if it deserved a spot in the rotation—and a listen while the family is home for the holidays.
Let’s just say: I found myself wishing my chocolate cheesecake prep took longer, so that I could keep listening. I even laughed out loud a few times—always a good sign that a story will be replayed again and again.
The author does a stellar job of weaving real-world situations (like searching for the perfect tree, sibling rivalry, and differences in temperament) with the magical characters Sydney and Cody encounter along the way. The narration is the icing on a Christmas cookie—expressive, engaging, and even sprinkled with fun snippets of other languages (thanks to those magical creatures they meet).
Best of all, the story manages to sneak in a few gentle life lessons—like the idea of “sowing and reaping” or karma—without ever feeling preachy.

What a charming audiobook. Not just the story, but the voices too. Really great thing to play for the family on the way to the holiday festivities this year. It could become a yearly tradition. This is lovely.
