Editorial reviews

Beatrix Potter’s time-honored tale of a froggy fisherman down on his luck presents young listeners with a strikingly honest account of nature. Potter portrays the pond habitat of Jeremy Fisher as a lush, beautifully tranquil environment, which is nevertheless fraught with perils and unpredictability. With inviting warmth and intimacy, actress Pauline Brailsford (A League of Their Own, Murder, She Wrote) harkens children on Jeremy’s journey, as the fisherman frog sets out to catch five minnows so that he might wine and dine his pond pals later that evening. The hapless Mr. Fisher finds himself bitten by beetles, chased by rats, and very nearly eaten alive by a hungry trout. Brailsford’s soothing, singsong stylings capture the serenity and enchantment of Potter’s lush Lake District locale.
