Writer, comedian, and content creator Elyse Myers gets real about life’s awkward moments in her bold, funny, and unfiltered debut book. Elyse brings her trademark style to the audiobook edition through her candid, conversational delivery—equal parts humor, vulnerability, and self-awareness. She shaped the pacing herself, occasionally layering in subtle sound effects that add texture and atmosphere to the listen. The result feels like she’s talking directly to her listeners, just as she does in her videos.

Elyse Myers is known to her twelve million followers as “The Internet’s Best Friend,” sharing her relatable stories and comedic sketches and serving as an advocate for topics such as neurodivergence, impostor syndrome, body image, and more. Whether she’s making people laugh with tales of disastrous dates or giving a voice to that awkward internal monologue many of us have, she has three simple goals behind everything she makes: To make people feel known, loved, and like they belong.

In That's a Great Question, I'd Love to Tell You, Elyse delivers a debut collection of deeply personal stories and hand-drawn illustrations, offering even more intimate reflections beyond what fans have seen on her social media, including:

  • Spending 7 Minutes in Heaven accidentally friend-zoning her crush
  • How Lucy, the Magic 8 Ball keychain, changed her life by accident
  • Moving from California to Australia to Texas to Nebraska to like (maybe even love!) herself
  • How to Fold Hospital Corners in 10 EASY STEPS!—a practical guide and a rumination about…everything
  • The “meat cute” when she met her smoke show of a husband at a butcher’s counter in Australia—and how she revealed herself to be an emotional runner

Plus, tales involving bad dates and is-this-a-dates; the tempting yet futile urge to reinvent yourself, panic attacks and escape hatches, and favorite pens and systems to use them, all while loving and letting yourself be loved, preferably at the same time.

This book made me feel less alone in a brain that makes it hard to just, be. Elyse's storytelling felt so interesting and different, and though I know this is real life, I'm waiting for the follow-up on our protagonist as she grows into her strength! Thank you for this book EXACTLY when I needed to hear it.

Honest and wonderfully interestingly told

I have been following Elyse for a few years on TikTok and she has been such a relatable person to watch. It has been fun seeing her grow with Jonas, August, and Ollie over the years. Now she wrote her dream book! woot woot

Her story shares how our brains work and think. It is so nice hearing the internal dialog that we battle with making decisions, meeting new people, falling in love. I never realized it was so rare until our little "community" came together and started sharing stories.

I love the adventures you took us on. Do we all "run away" like that? Loved the part where the person gets no recognition in your book! and the gravel road to Jonas part had me cracking up. Never thought about that before. So happy for you reaching your goal of being not just a writer, but a NEW YORK TIMES VEST SELLING AUTHOR! (for real?!) hehe xoxo

Congrats Elyse

It was a lil bit patchy when the chapters changed. But I loved the actual stories.

Good story teller

I absolutely loved this! So much that after having listened to it, I’m also going to go buy a physical copy. The story was heartwarming (and a little heartbreaking at times). The performance was fantastic. As someone who watches her videos on social media, I was extremely impressed that she was able to record the whole book without crying. And that’s not shade…I may or may not have teared up in more than one spot. I highly recommend this and will definitely listen to it again. And in case Elyse ever reads this, please know that, as someone who is pretty much a cross between Boo Radley and Miss Havisham (minus the wedding gown), you help me to feel less lonely, you help me to feel brave, and you give me hope (and laughs, which is just as important as hope).

Just amazing!!!
