DI Charlie Reed is investigating the murder of a woman found strangled in a flat in Chorlton, close to the detective's Manchester home. There’s no evidence of robbery or sexual assault. Curiously, the woman was killed in the hallway of her home, before being dragged into the bedroom.
Reed and her faithful sidekick DS Paul Rigsby are coming up empty, when a second murder is discovered. Another woman strangled; the motive again unclear, and the body once again moved from the murder scene, and placed in the bedroom.
Reed has a hunch, but even Rigsby has grave doubts about it. Then a third woman is murdered, pouring cold water on Reed’s theory. Yet she’s sticking to it, despite mounting pressure to accept a seemingly obvious solution.
The stakes are high, and if she’s wrong it could be the end of the road for Reed.
'Great to see Charlie Reed back. Another exciting crime mystery. Loved the relationship between Reed and Rigsby. Hope there’s more to come. This is shaping up to be a great series!' Helen.
'Long awaited second DI Charlie Reed story, this one is involved and complex. So much so that she and her partner DS Rigby are at loggerheads with their boss who wants it wrapping up fast. Reed is nothing if not dogged and won't accept any glossing over of facts that don't quite fit. Serious though the crimes are there's humour. A well plotted book. I look forward to a third.' Ignite.
'Another very enjoyable read and I do hope there is more to come from this duo. Although it is a complex read, it has plenty of twists and a good plotline. I really like the dialogue between the two main characters and the touches of humour which lighten the dark plot. This is a very entertaining read with good characterisation and a well thought out plot and one I can recommend.' Martha B
'Brilliant book! This is the second book in the series and what a brilliant book it is.I can highly recommend this book and am really looking forward to reading more books in this series. Colin Blackman.
'A great read with many twists. This is a dark crime, and I was gripped from the start. I like how Rigsby doesn’t go along with everything his boss says, he needs to try and work things out for himself, not just follow the leader. The story has plenty of twists and kept me guessing and even when I worked something out, there was more to come, which was completely unexpected. This is the second book in the Charlie Reed series. I hope there are more stories to come as I want to know more about the history to Charlie.' Dee Groocock.
'Great book.' MYOB.
'This sequel to The Bathroom Murders is every bit as enjoyable and well written as the first. The principal characters are well drawn and the narrative drives forward at a fair pace. It kept me guessing throughout. The author keeps a tight focus on his plot and avoids extraneous detail. Speaking as someone who lived in Manchester for many years, I found the local description and atmosphere especially convincing! It all adds up to a grimly satisfying read and I hope a third is in the pipeline.' Julian Middleton.
'Kept you in suspense and gave enough info to keep you wanting more. Full of twists and turns and kept u guessing who the murderer was with a shock turn of events at the end.' Lisa Trussler.
'Briiliant stuff!' Alyson R.
'DI Charlie Reed and DS Rigsby make a great team, and this is a terrific story.' Amazon Reviewer.
'Very entertaining and full of twists.' Mary R.
