The Checkmate Machine is a collection of essays I wrote about my concerns regarding the direction of modern consumer technology. I specifically focus on the negative impacts of smart tech on our lives individually and on wider society. These essays are taken from scripts from some of my videos, as well as some entirely new content written for this book. The topics include:
Smart cities
Digital IDs
Digital Currencies
Artificial intelligence
Automation
and more...
Content Creation & Social Media Artificial Intelligence Robotics Technology Computer Science

I like Dave’s YouTube channel, so some of this I have heard before.
He is spot on in his analysis of potential problems with technology.

Dave comes across as a very honest and easy to follow writer.

If I have any critique it would be the virtual reader of the audio book. There is nothing wrong, but I miss Dave’s speech mannerisms and humor.

Dave’s astute analysis

I may not agree with everything here, but that's sort of the point of this book. This is a very thoughtful book, and while at times a bit depressing, I appreciated the read. Unfortunately the audio is read by AI (antithesis of the books .. spirit), but I appreciate the material Dave put effort into here. I hope he writes more like this.

Get this book if you haven't thought about the true impacts of technology on your life in a long time. or to support the author. or because i
the boom ends with "of paramount importance".

This is a good book. I’ve followed Cullen for some time; he is incredibly insightful on this topic. The video essays he does on his YouTube channel are continued extensions of his theses in this book.

Really though provoking
