Natalie thought she had it all: a loving husband, a cozy home, and a thriving career as a freelance editor. But when her biggest client vanishes without a trace, her carefully constructed world begins to unravel. Left with mounting debt and shattered confidence, Natalie clings to David, her charming and supportive husband, for strength.

As Natalie searches for new work, a mysterious email arrives from a woman claiming to be the missing client's wife, Amanda. Driven by a need for answers, Natalie agrees to meet, only to find herself drawn into a web of secrets and unsettling revelations. Amanda believes her husband's disappearance is more sinister than a simple case of wanderlust, and the deeper Natalie digs, the more she questions everything she thought she knew.

Are some secrets better left buried?

The Client is a gripping suspense novel that explores the dark side of love, the fragility of trust, and the devastating consequences of a life built on lies.

“The Client” by Kat Goss is certainly a phycological thriller, and in my opinion, even more phycological than thriller. It’s definitely more cerebral than I thought, and I liked that. It keeps you guessing and therefore turning the pages. Often, it builds suspense by NOT pointing the finger. As an example, instead of a character being or acting suspicious, you are bound to become suspicious of a character because they are not doing anything suspicious---if that makes sense. You may think, this character is too good—therefore something has to be wrong. The primary character is very relatable, in all her flaws, and in fact, because of her flaws. She is so unsure of herself at times, that you'd like to grab her by the shoulders and shake her. The pace seemed to get a little slow at points, but overall, it held its own. It a good read, and highly recommended.

This is a thrilling page turner with unexpected twists. Very much in the Freida McFadden category of reads. I will definitely read another book by this author.

A Thrilling Read

This isn’t my usual genre, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story left me with mixed feelings—in a good way. First, it’s very well written, and the narration is outstanding. Natalie Kemp, the main character, is drawn into a mystery that slowly tears her world apart. I won’t spoil the plot, but it’s well worth the listen. My only hesitation is the ending: it’s unpredictable, with an odd twist that left me still wondering if the antagonist might one day take her to the top of a tall building and toss her over the edge. The duet narration by Kaden Catalina and Spencer Brus breathes life into this story. Their delivery—especially in the final third—kept me absolutely spellbound. If you’re a fan of psychological thrillers, can afford to lose a few nights of sleep, and have a partner who will tolerate a couple of days of fearful, slightly distrustful glances, I strongly recommend this audiobook.

A Sleepless, Spellbinding Descent into Suspicion

The Client pulled me in right from the start and kept me hooked until the end. Kat Goss weaves a captivating and suspenseful story that constantly had me questioning what was real and who could be trusted. Listening to the audiobook made it even better—Kaden Catalina and Spencer Brus brought the characters to life with voices that carried the emotion, tension, and unease perfectly. Their narration added a whole new level of immersion to an already gripping story. Highly recommended!

A Captivating Thriller Elevated by Fantastic Narra

It started well. and I was interested. The story line is unique, not just the same old themes of most “thrillers.” But as it went on, I started to get tired of David’s treatment of his wife, and of her tolerating it. But what I was especially disappointed with was the whole last part and the ending. To me, it was a huge missed opportunity for the initially good story to have played out in a constructive way with the mystery solved and the perpetrator found guilty. The false hope of Natalie becoming more assertive, faded away. I guess this author is on a different wavelength than me.

Wow what a disappointment
