Sometimes destiny is written. Hers was concealed.

When Cate travels from Oregon to university in England, she expects her gravest dilemma to be finding coffee instead of tea, but she’s got bigger problems—much bigger. At Staton University, nothing is quite what it seems.

Even her own identity.

Unbeknownst to Cate, a prophecy deems her as destined to defeat a ruthless enemy in a magical land, placing a target squarely on her back. Now, someone on campus is stalking her, and a narrow escape sends her through a mysterious portal, assisted by two irresistible boys.

Yet the fantastical new world is even more treacherous with rival kingdoms and imminent war.

Falling in love wasn’t part of the plan, but what’s a girl to do? A fresh start was all she wanted—a few new friends in the dorms with a trusty latte in hand—not war, an estranged biological father who is king, or a star-crossed love straight out of Romeo and Juliet (hopefully without the dying part).

As the battle looms, Cate must solve the mystery of the prophecy and decide who in her circle is trustworthy before the place she now calls home is destroyed.

Don't miss this new Young Adult Romantic Fantasy from debut author SK Horton about first love in a fantastical new world. Featuring swoon-worthy romance, court intrigue, backstabbing villains and so much more, it's perfect for fans of Melissa Albert's The Hazel Wood, Lauren Roberts' Powerless, and lovers of all things romantasy!

I loved this YA Fantasy romance. I thought it was a very good introduction into this world, a cozy fantasy with dragons and balls and and older YA romance but no spice which I did not miss. I listened to it in audio and Amanda did a great job with all the accents and I was able to lose myself for a couple hours in another place. This is book one of a series so it does not resolve the story line at the end but it does not leave you on a major cliffhanger. Overall, if you like cozy YA Romantasy, you will immensely enjoy this book. I look forward to more by @authorskhorton.

Cute YA Romantasy

This story is quite interesting, I for one was impressed with the story telling, though it did fall more heavily on the romantic side of the story than expected, regardless it was very well written and a strong start to the series. By the time I am writing this review I have already finished the second book. The Captured is phenomenally written! I for one thought it was an incredible successor if The Concealed. Highly recommend, and am awaiting the publication of the 3rd book.

Well Written

For a YA romantasy novel, this was a GREAT listen. The beginning of the book caught my attention quickly, and the romance was sweet between our two leads. There was a slow bit around 70% but that tends to happen in fantasy books imo. The ending was fun and high energy. Narration was fantastic. This voice actor had really great accents and male voices. Can’t wait for the rest of the series !

Cute, fun story

Coming off of a dark book, I was looking for a brighter, lighter mood. This story met that need and then some. It gave Dorothy in magical Oz fantasy vibes as the FMC uncovers her origin and destiny. The Narrator was fantastic! Great male voice and distinctive voices for the multiple characters maintained consistently throughout the story. Great for YA. I look forward to the next book in the series and more from the Narrator.

Great Palate Cleanser!

I loved how this book was both in “our world,” but also in a fantasy world! That was a fun, unique part. I also loved how we didn’t find out Kate’s power until the very end! (As frustrating as that was! Lol)

This was an EXCELLENT book 1, and I cannot WAIT for book 2!!!

LOVED IT!!!
