Not long ago, the starship Freedom was a museum ship. A relic of a bygone era. A rusty old warship converted into a tourist trap.

Then the aliens attacked. Now, once more, the legendary Freedom flies to war.

The war is brutal. The enemy is merciless. The rahs, vicious arachnids from deep space, crave only one thing. Human flesh. Before this terror, Earth’s fleet crumbles. Starships burn. Millions die. But the Freedom still flies. James King, her gruff old commander, still fights.

The Freedom will never surrender. The Freedom will never flee. The long, cold night has come to Earth, but the Freedom shines bright. The survivors of the fleet rally behind her. All brave souls heed her call. The Freedom sounds the cry of Earth: We will win!

The first was a half way decent sci-fi Alien Invasion story.

How did this happen? The aliens now can teleport, survive in vacuum, drug environmental protected soldiers(but only men). The aliens seem to have become fantasy vilians instead of cruel hunters.

The darkland two paths chapter was the BIGGEST load of cringe I have ever heard, I noticed a few massive plot holes as well.

This book needs major rewrites to fix the glaring problems.

Becoming Sicence Fantasy

I like theunderlying story, but the bombastic style of the “everything for freedom”, it can be a bit over-the-top for a modern far future story. I do appreciate the references to Nebraska though, it brings it home I suppose.

I purchased this expecting more. The first book was much better. Debating getting the third.

Disappointing Plot

These books are like if the 80’s had a space baby with Startship Troopers.
It’s somewhat corny but is able to grab you and make you care about almost every character and even the ship.

Quite amazing

What a great god damn book

In my mind I hear Adama from the original Battlestar Galactica whenever King speaks. A hard bitten, hard fighting, never say die character. The rest don’t disappoint either.
