“A poignant story, full of action, and a strongly painted canvas of the times as well.” The New Yorker

“One has a feeling of the authenticity of the pageantry and atmosphere of medieval England...the illustrations are beautifully handled.” —Kirkus Reviews

I have this story in book form, and have read it to my children in the past. It is a wonderful story of courage and character. But this audio version adds so much to the story. The times when John Go in the Wind is playing the harp, you get to hear the tune. When the church bells ring, you get to hear them. The audiobook was truly a delight to listen too. I can’t recommend it enough.

The book proved to be a pleasant, gentle story with a good moral. It was not incredibly moving, though.

great for young kids ages 6-12

The door in the wall is a book that I did not like, but now I like it pretty good. The only this is in the audible version it has the bells or some other thing throughout the book which I’m not a big fan of, but overall it’s a pretty good book.
