They said a rapid pole shift couldn’t happen. They were wrong.

The Earth slipped—a shift barely more than a degree on paper, but enough to fracture fault lines, drown cities, and rip the jet stream into shreds. The skies burned with auroras. Rivers swelled and reversed course, turning tall hills into islands. Satellites went silent. And within days, society collapsed.

Nate Conner, an Army veteran who never quite fit in after his tour, heads to the woods—one step ahead of the chaos, guided by instinct and a gut feeling that this time, the warnings were real. Casey Wren wasn’t part of the plan. She has her reasons for running—and just enough grit, if not more, to match Nate’s. A chance encounter brings them together, and what begins as an uneasy partnership gradually deepens into something neither expected: unshakable trust.

Together, they face a world buckling under pressure from storms, tremors, and something darker watching from above. A fawn they rescue early on becomes a symbol of what they’re fighting to hold onto: decency, purpose, and the faint hope that not all is lost.

In a land reshaped by disaster, survival means more than staying alive. It means staying human.

I could not stop listening, seamed so real felt like I was right there with the people. The voice by Jeff was great, changing it slightly when a older women spoke!

how real it felt!

I’ve read this book as well as listened to the audible version. Written by a gifted writer this is a love story of how two people navigate in a world that is ending. The challenges, the lack of communication with the world, little information they have to confirm what is actually happening but due to experience and knowledge from before things went quiet are able, as a team, to navigate better than most.
The audible version was wonderful - it reminded me of old radio shows where you listened to the story but could see it all in your mind-this is a testament not only to great writing but also narrating. Highly recommend this book.

Great story telling!

Written for a young or naive audience as a love story not as an apocalyptic story. Expecting a crisis and your gun of choice is a flint-lock? The world may be ending but you’re taking your time getting physical? Not my cup of tea but sweet story.

Should be labeled teen fiction.

Joseph Nirmaier authors a refreshing, not your run of the mill, apocalypse story. His descriptive writing puts you right by his side throughout the, never a dull moment story. it's amazing how he also weaves a love story into the mix without you even realizing it . I loved every minute of the story was only disappointed when it ended too soon. This authors three other published works are next on my list. Highly recommended.

Storyline is exhilarating! This isn’t your normal post apocalypse story about war, Emp, financial collapse, Etc. This is a story about humanity, love and the the world itself is the principal threat of contention. More then just survival, the spiritual and healing journey the main characters endure while the earth is cycling through a cosmic and geophysical state is almost other worldly.

A tale with a moments of deep calmness and reflection while earth is raging through changes humanity hasn’t seen since the days of Noah.

Enduring humanity
