In the summer of her fifteenth year as a professor at Gilchrist College, Lorna Terry is at a crossroads and, she fears, also on the downswing of her career as the “sole remaining radical feminist in academia.” Having built her life on a theory of non-attachment, she is disturbed to find herself becoming very much attached to the somewhat younger, Malcolm T. Mitchell. A writer-on-the rise, and her college’s newest wunderkind, Malcolm is about to challenge everything she thought she ever knew about her life, her loves, and her work.

But her growing feelings for Malcolm may well be the least of Lorna’s worries. For some in her academic community, she has risen too far, and too fast. And for others, she is much too smug in her accomplishments, enjoys adulation she doesn’t deserve, and is much too proud. And you know what they say about pride—it cometh before the fall.

This is a beautiful story of letting go of the worst parts of yourself and letting others love you. I can't wait to purchase the second one 🤗

This was a very interesting story. Delving into Academic politics and going ons is always an interesting feat. Lorna's character was quite real and believable because sometimes the most intelligent people make the dummest mistake and usually this mistake has to do with poor sexual choices (feminist or not). I like how the story dabbled into womanist/feminist theories through the life of its main character. I found that very interesting. The reader's voice was pleasant and clear and her diction is good, but the pace was too slow thus resulting in the story becoming drawn out. But overall this was a good story with solid content and enough conflicts to have kept me engaged.

This story was very well written. I enjoy that the main characters are older. I absolutely love that he was an alpha w/o doing too much. The intimacy scenes were described perfectly w/o being raunchy.

Beautiful story

The relationship between Lorna and her daughter was wonderful journey into post teen single parenting for a woman who was still healing from her own traumas.

I loved the depth of the story. Lorna was a very vulnerable and beautifully written character who resonated deeply with me.
