I fell in love with a boy before I even knew what love was.

I gave up my world for him, bartered away my hopes and dreams so that boy could have his, but he threw me away at the first sign of trouble.

And somehow, I became the villain of our story.

Everyone hates me for my betrayal. Only I didn’t turn my back on him—he turned his back on me.

Now, I live out my days at the Raven Souls MC as public enemy number one, guarding my secrets like a precious commodity.

My silence keeps others safe, so instead of speaking up, I fade away.

Now all I dream about is escaping the monster in my bed, but before I can run, he lets slip his intentions toward the mother chapter.

Torn between loyalty and freedom, I put my neck on the line to deliver a final warning.

But nothing in this life is easy, and instead of freedom, I find myself being pulled from one cage and locked in another.

Because there’s never just one monster, is there?

Only this one I never saw coming.

I love a totally unhinged MMC who is soft for only her! And Hannibal is one of those. This is the 3rd book in the Raven Souls MC series and I have loved each one! To hear Lola’s side of the story (she’s Havoc from book 2’s ex old lady) and oh boy did it make me not like Havoc thank goodness we saw his side of the story first or I may have not liked him ever! BUT Hannibal, the way he is so very sweet to Lola from the jump just gets me. This book was full of love, healing and suspense oh yeah and of course spice. Throw in a little revenge torture and yeah sign me up!! Great book, great series!!! Vivienne LaRue has an amazing performance and really made me feel all of what Lola went through. And of course Sean Masters was a perfect Hannibal. 10/10!!!

Absolutely LOVED IT!!!

Lola and Hannibal deserved this HEA and both narrators were perfect! Lola’s story hits ALL the feels and really shows that there is always more than meets the eye. I know many of the reviews a kindle said people skipped Havoc and Neveah’s book because of Lola’s story. But I promise that both are well worth listening to/reading. This book was 100% worth spending a credit on!

Perfect Duet Narration

Overall Thoughts: I didn’t even read the blurb for this book, that’s how confident I was that I would like this book, and I was right, but I didn’t realize this was Lola and Hannibal’s book, so that was a bit of a surprise, and not an unwelcome one. I do think this has the more triggers than the first two books. I was really surprised at how fast Hannibal grew to care for Lola. I am enjoying this series so much and I cannot wait for book 4. This is one of my favorite MC series. Ever. I definitely recommend this series, especially if you like dark, but don’t want pitch black. Now, about the narration. Vivienne was the perfect choice for Lola. Her portrayal of this strong and resilient FMC was impeccable. Sean, with his deep, growly voice was the only choice to voice Hannibal’s he has a way of being harsh, and dark while being able to be sweet. The paid together was intoxicating.

NOTE: Check the TWs and CWs. Your mental health is important.
Narration: Duet, multi-POV, first person, present tense, some flashbacks

Tropes: Motorcycle club, found family, OW drama, dark, múrder, t0rture, secrets, he falls first, OTTP, Not his baby, MC President, friend’s ex, psychopath, forced proximity, close proximity, soft only for her, SA (not by MMC), @buse, miscarriage, emotional @buse

Overall: 5 ❤️
Spice: 3.5 🌶️
Humor: 1.5 😂
Drama: 3.5 🎭
Darkness: 3.5 🖤
Narration: 5 🎧

Lola has been through a lot in the past five years, and none of it has been good. From her man going to prison unexpectedly, to being taken against her will by his psychotic bother, who’s baby she is carrying, to being given to the new President of the Ohio chapter as “the spoils of war.”

Hannibal is reluctant to be the president of the MC, after taking out the previous one, and not knowing who he can trust, including Lola, who he has taken as his “old lady”. But he has the sense that not everything is as it seems, especially when it comes to the woman he made his without her consideration.

The two grow closer, but Lola keeps waiting for the other shoe to drop, and Hannibal doesn’t know how to make her see, she’s been able to break through and get him to feel something for the longest time. Will these two closed off people be able to find happiness in their new reality?

Amazing dark romance

I am ALL IN with this series, baby! Every single book is a hit so far and I dunno what that says about me that I’m having a blast listening to these, but you know what… I don’t even care!!

This is Lola & Hannibal’s story, and I’m gonna level you with you here… I was SO intrigued on how Candice was going to redeem Lola in my mind.. but I also knew that there was more to the story and I NEVER, EVER trusted Driller (put me in a room with that POS 👊🏼💥).. I loved the route Candice went with Lola’s backstory, and it was an emotional one. But enter Hannibal.. the man who refuses to let Lola believe she’s anything but beautiful and anything less than an angel on earth. I mean he quite literally worships the ground she walks on, and how can you hate that in a man? 😍😍 I also really liked the complexity of Hannibal’s character, and loved that he never made Lola feel small and gave her space and time to heal from her past trauma. I just really loved how these two balanced each other out.

If you take one bit from my review, it’s this.. DO THE AUDIO!! It’s narrated in duet style narration by Vivienne LaRue and Sean Masters, and it. is. outstanding. Sean and Vivienne brought everything to life and perfectly performed their characters. It’s an audio experience not to be missed! ✨🫶🏼

I will give one bit of advice.. so this is a standalone, and it can probably be read on its own, but for maximum enjoyment, you should start with the first book. There’s kind of an overarching plot line going on and you’ll miss out on some important character introductions. It’s just my opinion! Take it or leave it. 😅 The audios are out now for the first two books and they are AMAZING.

If you love darker MC romances and the found family trope, you will love this series. I guarantee it. 💖

Hannibal & Lola ♥️♥️

🩸 Unhinged Hero

I listened to the audiobook of The First Cut as a standalone, and it was my first book by Candice Wright.

Audiobook Production: I think the cast was amazing! Both Vivienne Larue & Sean Masters did a great job with their roles and bringing the story to life. They are definitely narrators I’d love to hear again in the future!

Plot: Although it’s a standalone and I eventually caught up with the a character backstories, I felt like I would have enjoyed and understood this book a lot more if I had read the previous ones in the Raven Souls MC series. The writing felt a bit repetitive at times, but overall, it had a nice pacing and kept my attention throughout.

Characters: Lola was an incredibly strong FMC. She was really put through the wringer, and she still kept fighting to keep her baby safe. Hannibal was the dark, unhinged hero she needed. I loved how sweet and protective he was of her. Also, Havoc was the WORST!! Truly hated him, and glad he finally saw the truth in the end.

Final Thoughts: Overall, a fun read. If you’re looking for a new MC dark romance, definitely check this series out!
