Siege of Terra Book 3.

The outer defences have fallen, and the walls of the Imperial Palace await the Traitors. Perturabo is determined to tear down the mighty edifices his brother and bitter rival Rogal Dorn has built - but first he must take the Lion's Gate Spaceport, so that his heaviest weapons can land.

Listen to it because:

It's time for Rogal Dorn's defences get their real test - the attention of Perturabo and the Iron Warriors. The irresistible force meets the immovable object - and carnage ensues.

The story:

The war for the fate of mankind blazes on. Though the outer defences have fallen, the walls of the Palace itself remain inviolate as Rogal Dorn, the Praetorian of Terra himself, uses every known stratagem and ploy to keep Horus' vast armies at bay. In Perturabo, the Traitor siegebreaker, Dorn faces an adversary worthy of his skill. A terrible, grinding attrition ensues. The crucial battle for the Lion's Gate spaceport is at the heart of this conflict. With it in their possession, the Traitors can land their most devastating weapons on Terran soil. Dorn knows it must not fall. But with enemies attacking from within as well as without and the stirrings of the neverborn drawn to the slaughter, can the Imperial defenders possibly prevail?

Oh my, if you have an imagination then you will love this book. Amazing performance and portrayal of the characters.

A fantastic addition

I enjoyed this book, but I have a small issue. The author tries to show us the Terran defenders' side, which is understandable. But after following over 50 books in this series, I think we should stick with the main characters instead of introducing more new ones with extra stories, like a love plot that feels out of place this far into the series.

Loved almost all of the story. Some of the voices for the characters were hard to understand but they spoke rarely so it was not a huge problem.

Good listen

I have been recently getting into the War Hammer 40K series/genre and have been captavated with a lot of the scenes in the stories. Even if I am trying to follow cronological order with the books, I still miss some. In those miss steps, I have still felt I was being entertained by the atmosphere and the people that the stores follow.

The writing is great when moving the story of the siege forward. Unfortunately, a large part of the book was spent on a character that added very little overall. I know they are trying to develop a base human perspective to the story which often focuses on gods and super humans. This character was a miss for me and detracted from my enjoyment of other sections. Looking forward to book four.
