This book is both haunting and hopeful, as it dives deeply into several cold cases. Some solved, some unsolved we got a glimpse of the complexity of police work that goes into a cold case. Hopeful because of development dna testing that has not been available for long. Excellent narrator brought the information to life.

The Forgotten Girls is everything I want in true crime and more: deeply researched, emotionally grounded, and told with absolute respect for the victims.

Dr. Alyce Clark doesn’t just recount cases, she reconstructs lives. You can feel the extreme precision in every story, the hours of research behind each detail.

Nothing feels rushed or sensationalized. Instead, she gives these women back their identities, their dreams, and their humanity, while still walking you clearly through the facts of each case.

The credibility is outstanding, but so is the heart.

The narration by Rachael Doolen is perfect for this kind of book. Her voice, pacing, and timing are spot on, delivering the heavy parts with care and the investigative parts with clarity.

She never overacts or underplays the emotion, which keeps you locked in from start to finish. If you love true crime and can’t watch Dateline while you drive or work, this is the perfect alternative.

Honestly, it was better than Dateline for me, because it goes deeper into the people, not just the plot of the crime.

What really stayed with me is the reminder that these are just a handful of stories out of thousands, maybe more, that never got the attention they deserved.

These women never got a fair chance to leave their mark on the world, but through this book, their names and stories refuse to disappear quietly.

Dr. Clark has done an incredible job bringing their stories to us so their legacy lives on and the call for justice stays alive.

If you care about true crime, justice, or simply remembering those the world too often forgets, this audiobook is a must-listen.
