Regardless of where you are in your path of learning to love yourself, you will find The Gift of Self-Love useful. Areas addressed are how to stop all criticism of self, how to forgive yourself, and how to stop scaring yourself. By the time you reach the end, hopefully you will continually be gentle, kind, and patient with yourself, as well as staying kind to your mind. The author wants the results to be praise and support for oneself. Please always give yourself praise and support.

An easy listen with decent narration. Short chapters that get straight to the point, which I love. Easy exercises that you can incorporate into your day whenever you have an extra minute for affirmations or five minutes to journal. I could not find any planner pages or any pdf attached to this audio.

This is a super short audiobook, only 30 minutes, but it feels longer because it is jam-packed with ideas, affirmations, and exercises to help you with self-love and self-care. Audible has a fantastic feature that allows authors to share PDFs to go along with their audiobooks, and I wish the author had included one with this. At the very least, I would have liked to have seen the list of 30 days' worth of ideas for self-care that was at the end of the audiobook. These are each only one or two words long, so to keep up with writing them down while the audiobook was going, I had to stop and start several times! I would also like to have had a list of key affirmations and exercises.

You certainly get a sense that the author has "been there, done that" with the struggle that we all have with self-love and self-care and has found exercises and affirmations that have helped her along the way. One concept that particularly stood out to me—as I had never heard of it in all my self-help reading—is that we should apply the Golden Rule to ourselves! That is, not only should we treat others as we would like to be treated, but we should also treat *ourselves* as we would like to be treated! Fair point, as we are usually our harshest critics! As I often say to those I know, the way I treat myself, I wouldn’t expect others to remain my friend if I treated them like that! I love the little exercises and affirmations throughout this audiobook. Even though it is short, it has a lot of value. Highly recommended.
