Drusinella is a fairy with attitude. Banished from Fairy Land, because she has the nasty habit of turning princes into frogs with no way to change them back, she now has to live without wings as a punishment. When she receives a surprise invitation to a fairy party Drusinella is overjoyed, but, despite her excitement at being allowed to return home, she soon finds that the Fairy Queen has no intention of giving her wings back.

Miserable and wandering alone, Drusinella is captured by fairy hunters who intend to force her to help them take back their hometown from evil wizards.

A stupid princess, Camria, saves Drusinella from them, which by fairy law means she must grant her deepest wish. It is, of course, the one thing Drusinella hates more than princes: true love. Now the two go on an adventure to find the prince of Camria’s dreams (who, in all likelihood, has been turned into a frog by Drusinella). But will the sarcastic fairy be able to put aside her dislike of princes for long enough, or is she destined to remain as the rude and grumpy fairy she always was?

I love the grumpy fairy, even though she's not always grumpy. She's very outspoken, opinionated, and oblivious. She won't appeal to everyone, but if you crave sarcasm she's got a dish for you

Grumpy fun

The Grumpy Fairy (A Grumpy Fairy Tale, Book 1) by Elizabeth Dunlap and narrated by Sophie Stone is an OK listen. Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it. Kind of wish there was a different narrator (sorry Sophie)- sounded old lady-like vs. a young fairy (book is for teens). The summary is pretty accurate but I felt it was more along the lines of an angry, disgruntled fairy who hates everyone but Alfred (her bird). Maybe this one just isn't for me?

I received a review copy of this audiobook.

I didn’t care for this book. It hits a lot of tropes that annoy me. I don’t like it’s take on fairies, and the language used doesn’t seem to suit the genre. For all that, it isn’t bad in itself, just very much not for me.

Such a cute and funny story about a jaded fairy that turns princes and sometimes regular men into frogs with no way of breaking the curse all because they demand that " Fairies are supposed to grant wishes, and spread happiness". The narrator does a wonderful job

Great story

This was cute, but very over simplified, even for a middle grade book. It felt more like a book that would be read in fourth or fifth grade. I did appreciate the main character's snarky sense of humor.
