Two signals arrive from deep space. Both are impossibly precise. Both encode pure mathematics. And both were sent untold millennia ago.

When the new NEEDLES detection system isolates the transmissions, journalist Brynn Parry is drawn into what first appears to be a minor scientific curiosity. Instead, he finds himself at the centre of the most significant discovery in human history.

At the same time, Maria Gaviota’s research into primate brain activity reveals patterns that are disturbingly familiar — as though intelligence itself leaves a universal signature.

As evidence mounts, science, faith and reason begin to collide. Because if the messages were deliberate, then someone, somewhere, reached out across the stars. And humanity must decide what that means.

Such a great book by Michael Waverly. The cast of characters make for a wonderful story of religion, the meaning of life and aliens. Well measured with drops of humor and strokes of deeply researched history and science. Would love to read a second book of it comes out. The narrator’s voice (Michael Waverly himself) is deep, well paced and easy to listen to. His accent, a mix of English and Scottish make it unique and great in the ears.

Thought provoking and fun!

This is a book I would be comfortable reading with my children, but it is not a kids book. It has a solid story line, and quality character development. The chapters are short so the story moves along. It makes you think for yourself about what you've been told is true.
Also, im not usually keen on authors reading their own books, in this case I feel Michael could have a side hustle as an audio book reader.
Im looking forward to the next book in the saga.

finally a solid story without smut, language, or violence
