Virtual voice is computer-generated narration for audiobooks.

She vanished on the eve of their wedding. Now she’s returned, but remembers nothing—not even his name.

Laird Struan MacInnes never stopped searching for Isla, the fierce and compassionate woman he loved more than life. When she’s found half-drowned on the rocky shores below Dun Lirra Keep, battered and without memory, Struan dares to believe the impossible—his bride has come back. But the woman who once pledged her heart to him no longer remembers their love... or the betrayal that tore them apart.

Haunted by glimpses of a past she can’t grasp, Isla clings to the fragments—sketches of hawks, the echo of a Highland lullaby, a scar above her collarbone—and the pull she feels toward the laird who swears he’s her betrothed. Yet danger stalks her still. A stranger arrives with a forged claim, and shadows from her missing year threaten to drag her away once more.

As secrets rise and passions reignite, Isla and Struan must uncover the truth before it’s too late. But can love alone unlock a heart once forgotten?

A sweeping, romantic tale of memory, mystery, and second chances in the wilds of the Scottish Highlands.

I liked the bones of the story and the voice of the ai narrator was nice. However, the story felt only half written and rushed through. So many unanswered questions… *spoilers coming*

Where was she for that whole year? What’s behind the tower door? Who was the other clan that Struan considering an alliance with that they fought over? Why did Isla feel so strongly? Who is Isla’s father and why would he sell her? Also it doesn’t make sense that Isla’s father funded all of Cormac’s campaigns and then also sold her to him. What is isla’s father getting in return? There are so many holes. And beyond holes in the story, it was really anticlimactic. For an AI voice it was ok, but the tone was weird and you could never tell who was talking because the same voice was used for everything. It mispronounced Isla’s name several times. It also didn’t have a Scottish accent so when it was speaking in the characters voices they just sounded off.

All in all, if these issues were fixed, this might be a really good story. But I would not recommend as it is.

Had so much potential

I'm halfway thru the book and still waiting for the story to unfold. The accent and voice fluctuations are not consistent. A true, live voice would do a better job at making each character's voice more distinct. The attempt at speaking with a Scottish brough is completely off. Much of the dialogue sounds like a bad cockney accent. I'm glad I didn't pay for this book.

The Virtual voice is awful.

Even though this is AI voice, it's one of the better ones I've heard. The story is one of kindness and love, with a little mystery. Good easy listening.

Good story.
