Carrot has moved into the Wonder Museum—an eclectic collection of taxidermy, shrunken heads, and Mystery Junk owned by her Uncle Earl. For Carrot, it's not creepy at all: she grew up with it. What's creepy is the corridor behind one of the museum walls. There's just no space for a corridor there—or the concrete bunker, or the strange islands beyond the bunker’s doors, or the unseen things in the willow trees. Carrot has stumbled into a horrifying world, and They are watching her. Strewn among the islands are the remains of Their meals—and Their experiments. And even if she manages to make it home, she can't stop calling Them after her…

This author came very highly recommended and I excitedly purchased this book to kick off my spooky season reading. The beginning is great but there was a part where it got very slow and boring and I know it was meant to be creating an atmosphere but it wasn't succeeding and I was going to stop reading it. However, I persisted and boy was I rewarded for my patience.

The author describes the surroundings fairly well, the main characters are developed well with great dialogue and the story is definitely my vibe. Its a little spooky, a little sci-fi maybe and leaves you to wonder about your own reality. I would definitely recommend this if you're looking for something cozy-spooky.

Glad I didn't give up 1/3 way through

I stumbled on this book after reading about it on a horror lovers group. So I got it and I tried listening through it, even at times when the story became dragged on. The story was interesting and built a good mystery element . The narrator was good and did a good job of the writing style.
I will try another book from the writer.

Good for one time listening
