A young Seabee steps onto the most remote continent on Earth — and discovers a mission far greater than the one written in his orders.

In 1973, Richard found himself transported from the heat of military life to the frozen silence of Antarctica, a place where the horizon never ends and the wind carries secrets older than civilization. What began as a routine deployment quickly became a journey of survival, brotherhood, and unexpected spiritual awakening.

From the thunder of the C141 touching down on the Ice, to the daily grind of Seabee ingenuity, to the quiet, sacred moments that shaped his soul, Richard’s memoir blends adventure, humor, and faith into a story unlike any other. Along the way, he encounters the characters, challenges, and miracles that transformed a frozen wasteland into holy ground.

Part military history, part comingofage story, part spiritual odyssey — this is a true account of courage, purpose, and the mysterious ways God works at the bottom of the world.

For listeners who love "Unbroken", "Endurance", or "Into Thin Air", this memoir offers a rare glimpse into the human heart under extreme conditions — and the grace that finds us when we least expect it."The Ice is Nice and CheeChee is Peachy" is more than a story.

It’s a testament to faith, grit, and the quiet miracles hidden in the coldest places on Earth.

I enjoyed this first hand account of what our service members experienced in frigid conditions at the Pole. It was an amazing how they managed to built structures in such unforgiving conditions. The narration was also very good.

Excellent historical account!
