The Lady in Flesh

Psalms of the Tear: Book I

Written by Joshua Bish - Narrated by Ashen Morire

Some doors should never be opened. Others… should never have been built at all.

Welcome to Concord University, nestled in the Appalachian hills, where something ancient waits beneath brick and bone. When a young woman vanishes without a trace, her disappearance awakens a darkness long buried in a forgotten dormitory room. Whispers echo through the walls, and students begin to see things that shouldn’t exist—things that want to be seen.

The Lady in Flesh is a psychological and supernatural horror experience that blends chilling theology, unsettling lore, and unrelenting dread. As Room 316 reveals its secrets, sanity begins to unravel, and the line between faith and fear disappears.

Narrated by Ashen Morire with haunting precision, this audiobook plunges listeners into a world where memories bleed, nightmares breathe, and no one escapes unmarked.

Dare to listen. But know this—she remembers who you are.

This is a frightening and intense supernatural Appalachian horror story. There is lots of excitement and shocks throughout!!
It is a bit of a slow burn, but once it popped, boy did it pop!! It starts out with ancient historical folklore and then moves into the present.

The imagery is fantastic and I felt like I was enjoying a terror invoking horror movie!!

I listened to this on audio, and it pulled me in from the very beginning. The story is unsettling in the best way, weaving history, folklore, and creeping dread into something that feels both epic and intimate. Wenonah’s journey is haunting and tragic, and the gradual reveal of the Shadow Realm is full of tension. The world-building is rich, the horror is vivid without relying on cheap tricks, and the generational aspect gives the whole book a heavy emotional weight. The narration added even more intensity to the experience. If you enjoy deep, mythic horror that stays with you long after you finish, this one delivers.

Dark, atmospheric, and completely absorbing

I was looking for something to listen to that had a lot of atmosphere, and this story about Concord University was exactly what I needed. It kept me on edge the entire time because the danger felt so close and so real. The writing is easy to follow, but it still manages to paint a very dark and vivid picture of a nightmare coming to life in the mountains.

A Great Spooky Mystery
