Psychic detective seeks rigid unbeliever for impossible romance. Yoga a plus.
Kevin Quinn is living with new psychic abilities he refers to as the 'gift that keeps on taking.'
His attempts to use his talents to help the police meet with limited success. Yet, when teenage boys go missing from Southern California beach cities, Kevin gets on a plane to his hometown, where he faces his father, who turned his back on Kevin once before.
Connor Dougal has every reason to believe all psychics are fakes and charlatans. He's still numb from the disappearance of his first love, a boy who went missing ten years earlier. Kevin isn't comfortable with his gift, and unresolved family matters make things more difficult for him. Despite their differences, Connor and Kevin begin falling for each other as they work the case.
Can Connor overcome the tragedy of his first love and reach for the man who will love him forever?

Phenomenal performance by JF Harding. Can't emphasis that enough. Every character had their own unique & distinctive voice.
The story is fast paced with a solid, intelligently crafted paranormal/ thriller plot. The characters are well written & have depth.
As the mysteries become complicated (and painful for both men) we witness the relationship between the 2 MMCs grow closer.
The romance comes along with some very nice spice! And their banter from the get go is sharp, witty & quite humorous.
Mystery/ Thriller is NOT my genre; I only stopped to sample it as a fan of JF Harding.
But this audiobook? It hooked me at Chapter 1 and didn't let go...
The Writing & Performance are both Very Well Done. Brava, Bravo.

You can imagine my joy when I stumbled upon it recently in a site-wide sale, re-released under a different publisher. Huzzah! I couldn't finish the book I was already in the middle of fast enough, so anxious to get back to this old fave.
The story is well written, equally beautiful & sad. The connection between the 2 main characters is admittedly fast, but has always felt organic to me, not forced. The romance is quiet & humorous, not gushy or saccharine, as is too often the case in some MM novels, and the sex is hot without being outrageous or overshadowing the reason they've come together in the first place. The case of the missing boys, the pain of the connection to Connor's own childhood and the resulting guilt & trauma lingering there.
The narration is beautiful. The tone J.F. Harding sets is perfect for both the characters & the story. (The first thing I did when I saw it was re-released, before purchasing again, was make sure it hadn't been done by a new narrator who might've completely changed the experience. There are times the narration can make or break a story.)
I cannot say enough how much I appreciate this title being available again. Thank you Z.A. Maxfield for creating it in the first place & ensuring fans like myself have the opportunity to continue to enjoy it.
An Absolute Favorite. So glad to have it back!
