The Lookout was a good read by Jack Hunt. Kelly Danvers escapes a near-death experience. She is a famed writer that takes a retreat to a remote oof the grid lookout in northern Idaho running from her past. She is hoping to take this time to finish her novel. A bad freak snowstorm brings in a lost forest ranger, shivering with some outlandish claims. Unfortunately trouble quickly follows and she finds herself fighting for survival. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I'm always sceptical of thrillers because I really want to be on the edge of my seat during the tense moments, but this book did not leave me unimpressed. Hunt even threw in a genuinely shocking twist at the end. I really enjoyed every minute.

The narration was fine. It didn't add or take away from the story, but varying the male voices would have made it easier to differentiate between characters. Also, female voices can be difficult for male narrators - I get it. Still not a big deal.

Great Thriller

Kelly, an author and recent domestic violence survivor, decides to retreat to the fire lookout she owns to gain inspiration for a new novel. While there a snow storm begins. A park ranger arrives soon after, bearing the news of an EMP attack. The setting of the national forests of Idaho are the backdrop for Jack Hunt's thrilling survival novel 'The Lookout'.

This story is short in length but long in nail-biting suspense. One thing Jack Hunt does well is write tension and action scenes to keep readers on the edge of their seats. He also writes the story in such a way as to keep the reader guessing until the very end. He leaves foreshadowing clues for the reader to form ideas of the the climactic reveal, but still delivering surprises. It is a well-done survival thriller.

Miles Meili is one of the best narrators of today. His interpretation of Jack Hunt's words is perfection. I really like the style and cadence in his voice.

Good it’s short cause it wasn’t as great as I expected. Woman coming out of an abusive relationship runs to a secluded mountain home. One the free abuser is aware of. Kinda stupid thing to do, but the plot drags out with people coming to see her in seclusion getting murdered by man holding her there. Question is....who is this guy, and why is he there.

Just ok
