Critic reviews

"The exhilaration of her many triumphs on the battlefield, the bloody combat, the deadly jealousies and political machinations that begin her undoing, and her tragic end are portrayed with vivid imagination and brio. In this stunning debut, Cutter pays vibrant homage to this legendary woman." ( Publishers Weekly)

I learned a lot about the the woman Joan of Arc and the political landscape of the time period. The story was put together in a thoughtful thought provoking way.

Fascinating

Not bad at all, good story, fairly good performance and a well written ending. You could do a lot worse (and somewhat better) reading this on vacation.

A good light read

Based on this novel Joan of Arc was nothing more than a self-centered whining child who was overly obsessed with the thought of all the men who wanted to take her virginity; her "voices" included Michael the Archangel who also had some sexual interest in her because he grabbed her crotch. If she was a prophet she's the first one I have ever heard of who threw a childish temper tantrum after the King wouldn't obey the commands her voices had given. If this is an accurate representation of the life of Joan of Arc I can't imagine why she is considered a saint.
