Rupert Degas is worth buying this version by itself. He is an absolute delight. cannot recommend it enough. I read this book when it came out and it's even better than I remember.

A great story with several cool magic systems.
The reading/performance is mostly fine, but when he gives a character a dialect it sometimes gets impossible to understand. And whenever there's a song; he starts whispering so quietly it can't be heard.

A hero fuled by intellect and cleverness rather than just "all out" muscle and skill with a sword. The author is simply brilliant. And so is the story. 3rd time through the book so far. I'll probably read it a 4th time before thr 3rd book is published :)
