Alex McHenry’s world stood still the day her father passed. She was 19, studying to be an art teacher, and living happily like any other college student. Megan, a med student, and Alex, an EMT student meet in a medical examiner’s office while watching an autopsy. It’s a story of two women recovering from different types of Heartbreak, hence the title.

I loved Alex who was a very caring person, but didn’t like Megan as much as I had hoped. The secondary characters were juicy enough to create more stories for the series.

Although I loved Cara’s writing with flirty banter, this one had a glitch. How was Alex supposed to get her car after she and Megan got together? The narration by Victoria Landon was nicely done. Next up… Ivy! Oh boy, this should be a goody!!!

I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. They were well developed and I enjoyed getting to know them. The narration was not very good. I liked the narrator's voice but she stopped and paused every couple of words instead of where pauses would have made sense. I almost couldn't finish the book because of it but pushed through and was more able to ignore the inappropriate pauses. I pushed through because I enjoyed the story so much.

This is a good story, the MC are well created, the drama makes sense, the story line is not too extreme.
I couldn’t care less for the narration, it was a bit of a torture this happens when the narrator doesn’t put the coma or the stop in the right places, that leaves you to guess a lot.
I hope there will be mor books from Cara Malone, and I will not get any audio by Victoria Landon…
