From best-selling author Kristy Marie comes The Refiner, a steamy, enemies-to-lovers contemporary romance packed with all the feels and laughter your heart can take.

Wealthy.

Entitled.

Monarch.

Dr. Astor Potter was everything I despised in a man.

It didn’t matter that he was my sister’s one-night stand or her closest colleague.

I wasn’t charmed by his philanthropy or the way he made babies laugh using those ridiculous voices.

Dr. Potter was cold, detached, and reeked of disdain.

Nothing mattered to him.

Not the messages I left.

Or the tears I shed.

Nothing brought him to life.

Until my sister died.

And I placed my newborn niece in his arms.

Her father’s arms.

He didn’t know about the baby.

Neither did I.

They say love can’t be born from hate and grief.

I’m inclined to agree.

But then he asked me to stay….

This book was so very sad at parts. It dealt with a lot of heavy issues. Astor and Key both have their own personal trauma's to deal with on top of the trauma they are going through together. Key is dealing with the death of the only family member she has, on top of discovering her sister has been hiding a huge secret. Astor has his own issues that negatively impact his discovery that he is now a father, I think that Key's did not really handle things well with Astor from the beginning, she jumped to so many conclusions and lashed out because of that when she completely refused to listen to what was actually happening. I think this was just her way of protecting herself from her own feelings. I didn't expect this book to get so emotional when I picked it up but it was definitely heartbreaking. Again, like in the Potter, Remington is literally the best.

Pretty heartbreaking

If I could give this 1000 stars I would do just that. I’m drained. The start of this was tricky for me since I have a sister who is my best friend and who has a little girl (as do I) and it gutted me to the core. To think about how I would manage in the same situation was almost impossible and had me sobbing a few times. I am so grateful I listened to this audio. Jason Clarke and Heather Firth are perfection in their narration of these characters.
I’m kind of speechless but o can say that this is one of those books you won’t forget, one you remember when you listened to and how much feeling it brought to my days while listening to the performance. So beautiful. Not too much angst or over the top drama but a wonderful story with a lot of depth.

All the stars!

Keegan and Astor Potter, oh my goodness this is such as emotional listen/ ebook. Piper and Astor Potter are both doctors and best friends. But something happens to Piper where she gets sick. She has a feisty sister named Keegan (which I hope I am spelling her name correctly). She knows her sister is pregnant but doesn’t know why she didn’t tell the father which is Astor about the baby. I don’t want to spoil anything. Just that the sister bond between piper and Keegan is strong. Every birthday celebration is spent with tiaras and candy jewelry. Astor must navigate being a new dad and the lost of his friend and fellow colleague. Threw their grief Keegan and Astor friendship grew into something more. and now he has help raising his daughter tatum.

Very unusual story with lots of humor and some genuine grief. Things change by the chapter so keep listening.

Heads up, dearest fellow Dr. Potterheads (and non-Dr. Potterheads)! If you've got an Audible credit saved up just waiting to be used for something absolutely worthy of your aural fixation, then I highly suggest you fork it up for The Refiner, the second audiobook in the Hands of the Potters series. Listening to the first audiobook, The Potter, isn't a requirement, but it's one of my favorites for 2022, so go and give it a listen anyway, okay?

Penned by Kristy Marie and narrated by Heather Firth and Jason Clarke, The Refiner is the story of the eldest Potter brother, Astor (37), who is shocked to find out that he has a newborn daughter and that the friend and colleague whom he got pregnant has passed away. His greatest source of support turns out to be rather surprising as well--his friend's younger sister, Keagan McKeller, who's made no secret of just how much she dislikes him.

Have tissues on hand, listeners, because The Refiner had me teary with all its angsty goodness as much as it brought the wit and humor. That doesn't mean, however, that Astor and Keagan's story is dark and dreary. There is loss and grief, but there is also love, both romantic and familial. Heather Firth and Jason Clarke's narration is wonderfully engaging, a superb accompaniment to Kristy Marie's impeccable writing. Five-plus stars!

Angsty yet feel-good romance! 5+ stars!
