Private Detective Cormoran Strike is contacted by a worried father whose son, Will, has gone to join a religious cult in the depths of the Norfolk countryside.
The Universal Humanitarian Church is, on the surface, a peaceable organization that campaigns for a better world. Yet Strike discovers that beneath the surface there are deeply sinister undertones, and unexplained deaths.
In order to try to rescue Will, Strike's business partner, Robin Ellacott, decides to infiltrate the cult, and she travels to Norfolk to live incognito among its members. But in doing so, she is unprepared for the dangers that await her there or for the toll it will take on her. . .
Utterly page-turning, The Running Grave moves Strike's and Robin's story forward in this epic, unforgettable seventh installment of the series.

The story itself is in the caliber of Troubled Blood, my favorite of the series, which is now tied with this last book. I loved it so much, and thought to myself (just like with Troubled Blood) "this book is so f-ing good." I didn't see two separate plot twists near and at the end, Robin's character growth was great, Strike's coming to terms with a couple of different emotions he has regarding things I shall not spoil, and some truly disgusting baddies make for an epic inclusion to the series. The last few paragraphs had me squealing, and although a lot of people won't like the way it ended in terms of the "cormoran/robin romance arc", I myself love a good cliffhanger and it left me extremely excited for the next book. After listening to the last sentence I rolled over and shook my husband in excitement, whom, as it was midnight, was a little resentful.
I highly recommend this book, in fact I've already recommended the series to a friend, who is just as enthralled with Strike and Robin as I am. Finally, I have someone to gush to. I highly recommend listening to the book on audio and savoring it.
As Good As Troubled Blood!
