For George Finch, one of "Nature's white mice" and probably the worst artist ever to put brush to canvas, there are many obstacles to overcome. Undoubtedly the greatest is his beloved Molly's fearsome stepmother, Mrs. Waddington, who has her eye on an eligible English lord for a son-in-law. Luckily, George has an ally in sharp-witted Hamilton Beamish, an old family friend of the Waddingtons. Then there is George's butler Mullett and his light-fingered girlfriend, Fanny, whose valuable skills are of particular interest to the would-be father-in-law...

Light-hearted fun. The narration is delightful and as a New Yorker, I loved all the references to places in the city. The Pyramus and Thisbe scene is my favorite.

A gem! One of my favorite Wodehouses

While not one of Wodehouse's best, this in a fun tale with loads of broken hearts that must be mended, thieves, and stolen necklaces. The narration was good, with Cecil performing quite a few voices with perfection.

Enjoyable, but not a classic

The golden master sets beautiful machinery in to motion once again! Jonathan Cecil, once again, endeavors to deliver uniform satisfaction.

Amazing!

Wodehouse is simply the best. This isn't my favorite Wodehouse ever but it's dang good, like everything else he wrote. And you cannot beat Jonathan Cecil, the man is a master, I don't think anyone does Wodehouse better.

Classic Wodehouse

I always enjoy the combination of Wodehouse and Cecil. This story is fairly standard Wodehouse, but that is just what I want!

Hurrah for Wodehouse and Cecil
