Aziz is likable to listen to. He does a great job narrating. He covers all the social anxiety situations. He brings you right up to line of action.
Qualify by comments by saying I am 64 yrs. old, but still fighting the big corporation work battle every day. For me, I hoped the book would prepare me with tools to use when you are in those social situations. Then, armed with those tools, I would be more comfortable, even very comfortable in such interactions with people. So, Aziz gets you into meeting someone new or in a group setting, after the first pleasantries, what do you talk about? Apparently, that is in other books. What are the best topics to get conversations going? What do males verses females like to talk about? Different age groups? What able creating Charisma? We know the Dale Carnegie material. Sometimes, I am keeping a minimal conversation going, but I am bored out of my mind. And, I don't want to bore others with interests of mine if it is not their cup of tea. When it's something we share in common, it's easy. So what are tools I can use for everyone?

Aziz has been there & lived it. But, not what I expected.

I don't think I suffer much from social anxiety. It is my wife who struggles a lot with this issue. So I am listening to learn some tips that I might be able to share with her. Maybe I will even persuade her to read the book. But meanwhile I am learning a few things that might be helpful to me as well. I think this book really does a good job of exploring the underlying issues that are usually at the heart of social anxieties. I feel that if a person actually followed some of the advice in this book, it would almost certainly prove helpful. This is good stuff. The author makes it easy to understand, even though I'm sure there is actually quite a bit of complex scientific study behind a lot of this simple-sounding advice. I'm especially impressed with the author's excellent reading of his own book. He has a great voice for it, and gives it a reading that is compassionate, lively and conversational. It would be hard for even a professional reader to manage a reading that would feel so fluid, natural, and sincere.

Seems like very solid and relevant advice!

I never comment on books, but at 32 years old, I'm still struggling with these issues. This book has really opened my eyes to the reality that is, and am no longer laser focused on the negative thoughts I've always had. This book is just the beginning but now I have hope

More than expected

Ultimately, I found this book to be helpful! It actually even echoes some of the techniques used on a popular site that is meant to use cognitive behavior therapy in order to overcome social anxiety. I think that, in order to succeed with this book, one should definitely do the steps that this author spells out, i.e. writing out fears, exposures, ect. If you do that, and take his words to heart, and want to better yourself, this book is a useful tool and I'd recommend it to those who are shy or struggling with anxieties.

My only issue was that some of the scenarios are initially difficult to relate to, as I am neither a man not looking to improve my love life. The author is upfront about there male/Herero examples, and I was able to change the words in my mind to more applicable instances, swapping dating for meetings or job interviews, and ignoring the pronouns.

Would recommend!
