A sweeping, heart-wrenching, standalone from New York Times bestseller Pepper Winters.

"Things you should know about me from the very beginning: I was born to true love, witnessed the destruction it causes, and vowed never to let such agony happen to me. I am not a story-teller like my father. I am not a writer like my mother. I am just a son - their son. I am happy being alone. And that is all I ever want to be."

Jacob

The day he was born, Jacob learned his hardest and longest lesson. It wasn't a lesson a boy should learn so young, but from his earliest memories he knew where happiness lives, so does tragedy. Where love exists, so does heartbreak. And where hope resides, so does sorrow. That lesson carved him from the kid to the teen to the man. And nothing and no one could change his mind.

Hope

I first met him when he was 14 at a movie premiere of all places. A movie based on his parent's life. He was stoic, strong, suspicious, and secretive. I was only 10, but I felt something for him. A strange kind of heartbreak that made me want to hug and heal him. I was the daughter of the actor hired to play his father. We shared similarities. I recognized parts of him because they were parts of me. But no matter how many times we met. No matter how many times I tried. He stayed true to his vow to never fall.

I took a break after completing both duet ‘The Boy and his Ribbon’ and ‘The Girl and her Ren’. It was one of the most beautiful tragic love story I have ever read/listened in my life and will be stored in a special compartment in my soul. I took a break and decided to listen to this third book….It brought back so much heartache but I continued on and I must say the character I love the best is Hope…she was beautifully bright and full of ‘LIFE’ which is what Jacob needed but could not see it at the start…because this story engages the reader right from the start as Della is an excellent storyteller…we connect with her letters, her intimate engagement with us. I must confess I sob into the night because the ending brought out the aspect of a more universal, larger than life LOVE , of not just death but everlasting, after-earth, forever kind of soul searching LOVE. The narration was superb , just like the other two. I became part of the scene, the feelings and became family. I wish I know more of what happened to Ren Della Wild…THANK YOU Pepper Winters for bringing this beautiful love story into my life.

Perfect closure to an unforgettable love story

I fell for wren and della felt a part if thier story . cassie and John brought family to life and hope wonderfully stubborn. Jacob through the whole book though made me so furious and I just wanted to punch him.
great series.
book 3 not suitable for young readers which made me sad because it would have been a nice for everyone series if the explicit sex parts weren't so detailed.
the narration again spot on

absolutely love this trio of books

The best series I have read, you get angry then you want to cry happy tears at the end of the book. Which is hard because I’m reading this at work... 😊 I highly recommend, it’s worth the credit.

Awesome!!!!

OMG...the feels, never ending! I was going to write a review of each book in the series as they all warrant their own separate praise. Instead I decided to focus on the ending of a journey that was complete with many twists, turns, trials and tribulations. The depth of the sadness and joys the characters experienced can only be described as fulfilling to the reader. You felt every happiness, sorrow and intricate level of relationships.
The writing was next level and this is NOT your typical “romance” series. This author should be praised for bringing depth to her characters and grabbing her readers in the very beginning of this journey. You hold on for dear life most of the time but it is well worth it in the end...I promise.
One last thing to mention...be prepared to CRY! I mean really sob, you won’t be able to avoid it. You will feel the pain as if it was yours but the good news is you will also feel the PASSION as if it was yours. Enjoy every second of this series. I sure have!

BEST series EVER!
