Deceiving an empire is a treacherous game.

Tanwen and the Corsyth weavers race to collect the strands of an ancient cure that might save Gryfelle. But Tanwen has a secret: Gryfelle isn't the only one afflicted by the weaver's curse.

As Queen Braith struggles to assert her rule, a new arrival throws her tenuous claim to the Tirian throne into question. Braith's heart is turned upside down, and she's not sure she can trust anyone - least of all herself.

The puppet master behind Gareth's rise to power has designs on the story weavers and will stop at nothing to reclaim the throne. A plot to incite the angry peasants of Tir takes shape, and those dearest to Tanwen will be caught in the crossfire. As the fight for Tir consumes the realm, no one can remain innocent.

A unique and fun story! I don’t typically enjoy books written in the 1st person, but this one works. Definitely recommended.

Unique and fun story

I love this series and how lighthearted it is compared to a lot of the darker fantasy out there. The characters are all so loveable and the world is so immersive! Tanwen is so instantly likeable and her perspective on things has me rolling 😂 Can't wait to finish the story in Book #3!!!

Delightful Narnian-like adventure!

I liked this one better than The Story Peddler. It was a little hard to start on at first because it was a bit boring at the beginning but my sisters and I couldn't stop listening after we got through the first part of it. The narrator was also a bit hard to get used to, I felt like she pronounced everything wrong (we didn't listen to the audiobook for book 1), which was soo annoying, like she pronounced Gryfelle liked "GRI-ful" instead of "Gri-FELL" and Urian like "YOUR-ian" instead of "Er-AYE-an" all the time and it was just SUPER annoying and took a long time to get used to. It was worth it in the end but just wanted to give y'all a heads-up.

Will read book 3

Book 2 in the series was written well. It ends well. Not as well as book one where book one was able to be a stand a lone book. Book 2 in this series will need the third book. I will probably get the third book but I'm not sure yet. The story is never dry. It is action packed. It continues in originality like the first book in the series. There are so many good things about the book and for most people worth the listen or read. However, the main character was unlikable for almost the whole book. The obedient and considerate and hopeful young Tanny was replaced by a spoiled and selfish Tanny who had no respect for authority. I don't know if the author intended this but all the characters didn't seem to notice, ignored or justified her behavior. Perhaps the author did intend this because Tanny becomes likable again at some point but the stretch of selfish, ungrateful and in my opinion even emotionally cruel behavior of Tanny went on too long without coming up for air. I even stop listening to the book for about a week because she felt like someone I didn't want to spend anymore time around. If I listen to the last book in this series I hope the only characters I become this disgusted with are villains.
