Random House presents the audiobook edition of The Terror by Dan Simmons, read by Tom Sellwood.

Stephen King hailed Dan Simmons' bestselling novel as 'a brilliant, massive combination of history and supernatural horror' and it's now a chilling 10-part AMC Original TV series from Ridley Scott.

The most advanced scientific enterprise ever mounted, Sir John Franklin’s 1845 expedition in search of the fabled North-West Passage had every expectation of triumph.

But for almost two years his ships HMS Terror and Erebus have been trapped in the Arctic ice. Supplies of fuel and food are running low. Scurvy, starvation and even madness beging to take their toll. And yet the real threat isn’t from the constantly shifting, alien landscape, the flesh-numbing temperatures or being crushed by the unyielding, frozen ocean. No, the real threat is far more terrifying.

There is something out there in the frigid darkness. It stalks the ships and snatches men. It is a nameless thing. At once nowhere and everywhere, this terror has become the expedition’s nemesis...

My men, my loyal companions for the last 6 months. I recommend listening to it without a rush, starting in winter, finishing in spring. The form of the books adds to its overall message, grounds you in the story and leaves you with the range of emotions much wider than you might’ve expected

Ah, the thing on the ice..

Tom Selwood is the best narrator and this is a great book, have to point out there is one glitch in the audio one fourth into the book but thats minor I think. Perfect.

I really enjoyed this one. The characters are interesting and the despair and terror rises as the story unfolds. I was a bit unsatisfied with the ending.

Original and captivating

looooong and boring. worst book ever ever. I want my money back. Booring as hell. its about 2 boats in the 1800s stucked in the ice for 3 years and every single day told as one page in the book. nothing happens. ah yes, there is monster that eats many people and the rest die in the call or escorbuto. that it is. that's all. I spoiled for you. Shame on amazon for selling a book without reading it
