Desperate Deception

Celia Muir must escape from a burning castle into the Scottish Highlands before English soldiers capture her. With her are loyal friends and servants, all united to protect the infant Kit from unknown enemies. For her clandestine mission to succeed she has to make Colin Campbell, the warrior lord whose help she seeks, believe she is the seductive Lady Caithness.

Irresistible Desire

Colin Campbell's head tells him this Caithness woman is trouble, yet his heart is telling him she is magnificent. Whatever Celia is hiding he needs to know, but he also wants to hold her and kiss her. And as war with England scorches the heathered hills, Colin and Celia find reasons to bare their secrets, surrender to their desires, and head toward a destiny where Scotland's future--and their own--build on the strength of their passion and love...

One of the best I’ve read/listened to recently. However it is unfortunate that such a good book is marred by an AI performance. I have sped the book up to 1.1 which helps a little with the voices, however, this book has some sarcasm and whit which is never translated with an AI voice. It is quite disappointing considering how good the novel is.

Great book/terrible performance!

Loved the story and characters. Virtual narration wasn’t awful like some of the reviews indicate. I feel the narration served the purpose I needed in that I was able to listen instead of reading myself.

Fan of this series and author

This would have been an excellent story had it not been narrated by virtual voice. Names were pronounced one way then the next (Colin was often Colon and Alec was Alan) this caused confusion to how many characters were actually in the story. They all sounded alike, The inflections were all wrong and I had to stop listening with frustration several times. I am shocked that May McGoldrick and Jan Coffey would allow their books to be presented this way. This presentation was very cheaply presented. Shame on you!
