If you liked Gillian Flynn---Gone Girl, you’ll love The Vow. Alisa Hopkins brutally shoots her husband and calmly waits for the police to arrest her. With a weapon and a signed confession in hand, Deputy D.A. Patricia Patterson believes a conviction is a slam dunk---that is until the case completely unravels. Now with little evidence, Patterson goes head to head with the cunning Hopkins in a desperate search for the truth and the burning answer to one burning question: how is Alisa Hopkins getting away with murder? This cat-mouse thriller is guaranteed to keep you on the edge. African American Genre Fiction Urban

WTF is the best I could come up with. This book started out so well and then it is became a train wreck that I could not stop reading. Now I’ll admit I may be bias because I have a history in law enforcement which interfered with the “fiction” of it all if you will. There were so many holes during the trail and a lot of stuff that made no sense. I get having so much anger about your spouse cheating that you want them dead but to then go on a taunting spree of everyone around you just because you were mad/hurt by one person made absolutely no sense to me. I stayed til the end because I went from rooting for Alissa to wanting her to pay. Also Patricia in fact was NOT a good attorney and she was weak as a woman. I notice a running theme with this author and how she likes to portray women as weak. I was also not a fan the repetition throughout the series. There are so many other vivid words to use that will set the scene. IDK sounds little harsh but this is my honest review. Still the story line was great but the book should have ended with The VOW because that’s who made them to each other Dawson and Alissa, not everyone else.

I’ve been looking for a book that would have more to the female character than just being in love and I found it with his book. Seeing our main character go toe-to-toe with an absolute psychopath was exciting.. there were times where I felt like with her being a lawyer, she could have went harder and been more prepared for the enemy. I mean this lady gets a background check done on you by a private investigator and you never hire one of your own three books later? Also, some of the secrets were drawn out for effect and didn’t need to be. Overall great book.

Great Stroy Telling - Some holes in its delivery

I have only good things to say about this book the twists and turns were phenomenal and I couldn’t stay away. The engagement that comes with listening to a book with such an amazing plot from start to finish is just breathtaking.
