The small town he couldn't wait to leave is calling him home....

Dax Ellis returns to Colton, Mississippi, a changed man. He traveled the world, earned a fortune, and made a lifetime of memories, but now he longs to put down roots. Time hasn't been kind to his hometown, and Dax wants to help - if only he can convince everyone he's not the same petulant boy he used to be. Especially the one woman who has every reason not to trust him.

Librarian Callie Colton cherished summers with her grandparents in the town her ancestors helped build, in spite of the boy who called her names. Now that Colton is her home, life is quiet until Dax returns...and, along with him, ugly letters on her doorstep. He may still have the power to hurt her, but she's not the same scared little girl she used to be.

And soon Dax will have to face his past to find a way forward for the relationship they were cheated of once before.

Contains mature themes.

I enjoy reading a book that is focused toward readers over the sixth grade level. I liked the characters, I liked the story, and I enjoyed the way the authors brain worked and putting the story together.

Wow there are a few things that I would have changed – and those are the spots where I yelled at somebody - I still enjoyed the story. As an older black woman who spent time in the south, I could definitely relate.

And, of course, there’s the narration. I thought the narrator did an excellent job, even if some of the characters sounded kinda the same. It didn’t matter. She made the story easy to follow. I hope the author writes some more stuff. I really like her style.

I really liked this book and would recommend it. It had a great storyline. Wish it gave a little more in the bedroom. Wanted more insight with on of the Jules and Uncle Robert. I wish this book was a movie or TV show. Oh, how her parents didn't come to her wedding. I'd the ghost was her granny why did Dex know her?

The book was very sweet and shows how secrets destroys families and towns alike. How many towns people shares a common ancestor, which can divide a community. I like how Callie was able to concur her fears, and forgive bringing love and respect to her. I highly recommend the whole heart of Colton to lovers of racial romance.

A very sweet story

Sometimes it takes a lot of forgiveness to find and hold love. Callie was certainly more forgiving than I could have been in her shoes. Still, her love did man up and hopefully remained the husband she deserved.
