A hidden killer . . .

A conspiracy of treachery. . .

And two people caught in the most desperate game of all . . .

In Renaissance Italy, intrigue is as intricate as carved cathedral doors, but none is so captivating as that surrounding the prized Wind Dancer, the lost treasure of a family—and of the man who will stop at nothing to reclaim it. Lionello Andreas is bound by his vow to guard the exquisite statue. But to recover what is rightfully his, he will need the help of a thief—one he can control body and soul. He finds his answer on the treacherous backstreets of Florence, in a sharp-witted young woman whose poverty leaves her no choice. But in the end, the allure of the Wind Dancer, and the ruthlessness of those who would possess her, will catapult them both into a terrifying realm where death may be the most merciful escape.

I read this series many years ago, and found it so delightful that I couldn't wait for it to be released in audiobook. But this narrator is awful! If she's not mispronouncing almost every word just enough to be really annoying, she's putting the emphasis on the wrong syllables or dragging the words out improperly. And not just in the dialogue where it could be considered a character affectation, but also through the general narrative. Does she have a speech defect? She should never have been allowed to narrate audiobooks! I'd rather listen to this book using Microsoft Sam's robotic voice. If she's narrating the rest if the series, I am not buying it!

HORRIBLE narrator ruined this delightful book!

I have the entire series in paperback for over 20 years. Listening to it on Audible instead of reading it made realize I missed a lot of stuff while reading it. While not my favorite book in the series, I did enjoy it. It had a great mix of romance, tragedy, and adventure and it's a great lead in for Book 2, Storm Winds, which is my favorite of the series. I've read that book more times than the others.

I finally own the Audible Verison

The storyline wasn’t what I was expecting. The characters just seemed to fade away in the end after having been more solidly developed throughout the book. Not a favorite! But, I will consider Book 2 in hopes it will reaffirm my faith in the author.

So different from what I usually expect from this author. I guess everyone must have the chance to explore other sides to their

Not a favorite of this authors books story line very dark throughout most of the story and just did not captivate my attention as her books normally do.

Not entranced

I wanted to love this book because I do like the author, But the undertones of SA and glamorizing underage/virgin attraction by a grown man was just too gross to keep listening.
