The extraordinary documentation of the evolving friendship between the Dalai Lama and the man who followed him across Ireland and Eastern Europe, on a pilgrimage to India's holy sites, and through the Dalai Lama's near fatal illness.
On this remarkable journey Victor Chan was awarded an insight into His Holiness-his life, his fears, his faith, his compassion, his day-to-day practice-that no one has reported before. We've heard the public voice of His Holiness--now we are invited to listen in on his personal explorations, and to take instruction on the Tibetan art of living.

This is an enjoyable and interesting narrative and it provides a good view of the Dalai Lama and his life. I found, however, that it was at least as much about Victor Chan, the interviewer and narrator, as about the Dalai Lama--while this wasn't all bad, he and his life are very interesting as well, it left me feeling a little like my view of the Dalai Lama was a little peripheral. .. maybe that is just a reflection of Chan's relationship with the Dalai Lama. I still would recommend this book very highly. . .it is interesting and entertaining and provides many fascinating vignettes of the man and his life. . .but I was just left wanting a little more depth.

A wonderful intimate look into HH Dalai Lama's life. Having being witness to some events and places in the book gave pause to how accurate the entire book must be. HH Dalai Lama gave a teaching in this book which is remarkable in and of itself.

Excellent audio

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Do I recommend this book. Yes. You might be moved to forgive that on person that you have been carrying around with you for years. I was so moved. After listening to this audio, I was moved to view You Tube presentations on this topic by His Holiness. Honestly, listening to this audio brought deeper insight into all other presentations on the same topic by His Holiness.

I am a committed Christian. Yet nowhere have I found such profound teaching on forgiveness by any contemporary Christian writer. In fact His Holiness The Dali Lama's teaching on forgiveness transcends religion and speaks to the heart of holiness.

Who was your favorite character and why?

His Holiness The Dali Lama of course is the main character but Mr. Chan's wonder, experienc and personal insights bring great value as well.

What does Shishir Kurup bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Mr. Kurup's talents are many. He captures the spirit of forgiveness in his narration.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Caution: this film might be hazardous to your long held grudges.

You might be moved to forgive that one person....
