"The Worm Ouroboros" is a heroic high fantasy novel. It starts with the description of the prolonged war between the domineering King Gorice of Witchland and the Lords of Demonland. The framing story having introduced the chief lords of Demonland - the brothers Juss, Spitfire, and Goldry Bluszco, and their cousin Brandoch Daha - the story begins in earnest with a dwarf ambassador from Witchland arriving in Demonland to demand that the Demons recognize King Gorice XI of Witchland as their overlord. Juss and his brothers reply that they and all of Demonland will submit if the king (a famous wrestler) can defeat Goldry Bluszco in a wrestling match. The match is held in the neutral territory of the Foliot Isles, and Gorice is killed. His successor (or reincarnation) Gorice XII is a sorcerer who banishes Goldry to an enchanted mountain prison, by means of a perilous sorcery requiring the help of the deceitful Goblin traitor Lord Gro...

For me this book is worthwhile but not remarkable. The same is true for the performance.

This classic is an old favourite of mine, and let's be honest, it's not easy to read well aloud. The dialect is archaic - reminiscent not so much of Shakespeare as of Marlowe or Spenser - and a solid command of Early Modern English is pretty much a prerequisite for getting through the printed pages.

But here our reader offers us the ringing glory of Eddison's unique literary voice as I've always thought it should be experienced: audially. This gentleman may just have read this masterpiece more often than I have.

I just finished my third listen.

it was way to grainy and poor quality so I didn't get very far into it the book might be good but I will never know because I can't stand the audio, so I'll give the book a 3 star just because I could possibly be good
